Abrahams inheritance by promise

God's word given.

A study for knowledge, these are the notes.
Gen 11:31. Te’rah, Abram’s father took them out of Ur of the Chaldees to go into the land of Canaan, and they came to Haran and dwelt there.
Gen 12: God calls Abram out of Haran, in v5. “And they went to the land of Canaan, and into the land of Canaan they came”.
Abram once in Canaan moved through the land into the place of Sichem unto the plain of Moreh and the Canaanite was then in the land.
Now Abram is in the land of the Canaanites who dwell there also, at Sichem.
Gen 12: 7 God appeared to Abram and Said “Unto thy seed will I give this land:” Note Gal 3:16 and 29 and there Abram built an Altar to God, and moved on to Beth-el, and there he built an Altar to the Lord. Two Altars?
Then v9. Abram journeyed on south to Egypt and sojourned there.
Then Gen 13: Abram went out of Egypt back to Bethel to the altar he built at first.
There was not enough food for stock at this place between Beth-el and Ha-i, where the Altar was, so lot and Abram parted, even so the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled there then.
Lot went to the plain of (Jordan and dwelt in the Cities), and it was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
Abram dwelt in the land of (Canaan). Two different lands.)
Gen 13:14+ God tells Abram to lift up his eyes and look to all points of the compass. And v15 tells him that all the land Abram sees “To thee I will give it, and to thy seed for ever”. V16. “And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth, and then shall thy seed also be numbered”. Note here that it is given for “ever” which implies and certain period of time, limited but uninterrupted, not “For ever and ever”, which implies eternally.
Now this seems to be saying that in context God is giving this land now to Abram and the seed God mentions is that of Abram’s off spring rather than the seed referred to back further of Jesus Christ? Because, -------(Read and think carefully here now).
V17 “Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.”
The Abram shifts tent in v18 comes to Mamre which is in Hebron, which is still in Canaan, so he at this stage is staying!
Gen 15:7-8 “And he said unto him I am the Lord who bought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?”

2

Then in Gen 15:18-21 God makes a covenant that same day with Abram saying, “Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river Euphrates:” then names all the places about and between.
So what have we got so far?
God calls Abram out of Ur.
Abram goes to Canaan.
Stays awhile and builds an Altar near Beth-el. Travels to Egypt because of Famine in Canaan.
Lives in Egypt, awhile, and becomes well off.
Then comes back to Beth-el and stays.
Lot his Nephew, Splits and takes all his family to Jordan, a different land.
God then promises the land again and makes a Covenant with Abram.
Abram has lived on the Promised Land, but also the Canaanites and the Pezzerities therefore the land has not yet been inherited by Abram.
The land at this stage has not become the inheritance of the people of Abraham. WHY?
There is this part about the people going into Slavery in Egypt then events following later in the fourth generation from Abram.
Where then does the “Seed” being Christ fit in? –Gal 3:16. “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, and to the seeds, as of many; but as of one, and to thy seed which is Christ.” This is ref to Gen 12:3.
Then in ref to the use of Christ used in Gal 3:16 go to, 1 Cor. 12:12. “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”
Then backing that up is v13-14.
Therefore in context of all this. The inheritance has not gone to Abraham in his time materially, because the inheritance actually belongs to Christ, and in context Christ is made up of all those who become Christ’s people, and that in context is Christ, all being members of his body making up the body of Christ, all these inherit all that Jesus the Christ inherits from God. And to back that up, Gal 3:16 and 29.
It appears that the Land inherited is that which gives the Throne, as material lineage, to Jesus Christ and followers, in the form that it gives them the inheritance of ownership and the right to govern the world, to take over all things and to Judge.

3

Therefore the inheritance of the land is really only symbolic and used as a means to and end, while the actual inheritance is that of Jesus Christ and therefore our way to God All mighty our Father of all In the Highest Heaven. Jesus will share all that God has given him, with all that come to God through Jesus Christ in obedience. But for the Material inheritance of the Land, it is to be inherited during the 1000yr period, to the twelve tribes of Israel, and this for the second time.
Is this then the Key to understanding the Millennium period of time, does this then suggest that people will exist on the land on earth during the 1000yr period? Given that the land was inherited and then the people were scattered from it. It is now the inheritance of Christ and used in such a way by Christ, this can only come when he returns.
If not, why have a land inheritance that is not occupied as such? It is apparent to me that this inheritance being that it is land, and Jerusalem is within it in the days of the promise, this would point to People yet to exist during the Millennium Period.
The place is reserved for Christ and his Saints to work from; this is the reserved for the place of Christ’s Throne, held through from King David.

INHERIT THE LAND A SECOND TIME

The people Israel lost the inheritance of the land through transgressions to God, and God scattered them through out the world.
Now we see in (Septuagint) Isaiah 61: 7 “Thus they inherit the land a second time, and everlasting joy will be on their head.” --- Now look at v4 “And they shall build the old waste places, they shall raise up those that before were made desolate, and shall renew the Desert cities, even those that had been  desolate for many generations.” --- Well this is all been happening for some decades now, to day there is much work done by the ten thousands of acres, and water dams and buildings built, and trees planted to reclaim the desert places, the work has stretched far and wide, I am responsible for having helped the planting myself (Financially that is). So there’s prophecy at work to be seen.
And given that they inherit this land “Forever”, which is only for that period of time or era not “Forever and ever” which is eternity, this places this inheritance, which is the material one rightly for during the 1000yr period, the Millennium.
We see in scripture that the people Israel and Juda will be joined together again some time in the future, and then the saved of people Israel, and that is only a remnant of a number, quoted as numbered as the sands of the sea shore. We know that even though all others who come to God through Jesus Christ are grafted in, yet the graft is onto the rootstock (Seed of Abraham) the out come of the graft is that it is still basically the same plant, therefore those who are not people Israel by blood, even though grafted on, are still their own people.
We therefore, have the saved of the people Israel, and the terms and conditions they get their inheritance; that is yet to come again, the material land inheritance as it was with their fathers, and during the Millennium and therefore flesh period, and they will have their Saints looking after them.

4

During the Millennium period, we know that the Gentiles have Saints risen, but there is not scripture that says that the whole of the Gentile race is to take part in the people Israel’s material land inheritance. ---So the Saints inherit Christ, Christ is the “Seed” of Abraham who inherits the Earth, and Jesus shares his inheritance with all the Saints. Inheriting the Earth is inheriting Ruling and Judging it.
Gen 35:1 “And God said unto Jacob (Israel) arise, go up to Beth-el and dwell there:” ---V6 “So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is Beth-el” ---- And in v10 is where God calls Jacob Israel. V11-12 God makes the promises to Jacob and the inheritance, at Beth-el.
Gen 36:6 Esau goes to dwell in-- v8 Se-ir Edom, Esau is the father of the Edomites in Mount Se-ir.
So then Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan. (Once again the people are living in the Promised Land but not inheriting it, and here we have the first of the people Israel in the Promised Land.
Now there is Joseph, a son of Israel (Jacob) who is the head man in Egypt having been sold by his brothers, but the thing that is noted in all this is that all that live on the land of promise seem to get shifted off it by Famine! Perhaps to make sure they aren’t seen to be permanently there as if having taken possession of the inheritance, at this stage anyway. Jacob now goes to live in Egypt.
Israel’s bones are buried in Canaan. Back in the Promised Land.
But look when Jacob (Israel) died, Joseph and all his family stayed in Egypt, and Joseph was buried there. And so because they all lived and prospered there, and a new Pharaoh came this is where the slavery bondage and Exodus came from, Jacob- Israel’s people.
Now we come to where all the promises were passed on to Moses, but because Moses never Gave glory to God at the Rock of water at Horeb, Moses was not to take the people into the Promised Land, he was shown it but never took possession of it.
Lev. 25:1-2, God tells Moses, --- “When ye come into the Land which I give you” ---
Let me jump to the book of Joshua 1:6 “Be strong and of Good courage: for unto this people thou shalt divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.” So here it is it’s already been inherited, this is the material inheritance, --- But the better inheritance Paul speaks of is the inheritance of Christ and then God! Heb 11:39-40.
Josh 1:11. 13:6-7-8—16:10 --- 24:12-13-28 “So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.”!
But for how long be fore they were scattered! See how they returned to idolworship!
Yes the inheritance has been materially issued.
The inheritance still stands for Abraham and all the line from him of leaders who were promised but never inherited. But it is something better – Christ.

5

Look to Hebrews 11: this whole chapter is dedicated to this subject and gives the understandings that: Jesus Christ is now the inheritor of the land given that he is that single seed, and all those who were promised are now under Christ’s inheritance, we inherit Christ as they do, and all that Christ inherited from God is shared with all those who overcome.
In all those written of in Ch11: One thing is clear, God has shown them all in Vision Dreams that a Christ is to come in the form of a man, so they all knew that they would not materially inherit the Promised Land, but that this was an inheritance of Jesus Christ that we are to have, the inheritance now is in Jesus.
V39. “And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise. V40. God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect”.
This being Jesus Christ, our inheritance.
And v 13-16. Tells us they died in faith confessing that they were strangers sojourning on earth, because they knew their inheritance is in Christ. And to back that up we read that they seek a Heavenly country or place.
Also Abraham seeked a city built by God, as he sojourned in the Promised Land. This meaning he looked towards that inheritance in Jesus Christ. V10. And remember the City Built by God Is the New Jerusalem that comes down out of Heaven from God, and that comes at the time when God brings in the New Heaven and new Earth “Behold! I make all things new” Read of it in Rev 21:1-5, this is what Abraham is looking for.
What then is the inheritance?
Israel blood line Gets material land of the previous promise.
God has yet to deal many things to the people Israel, and one promise God is written that he is to keep, is the material land inheritance for the Blood people Israel. The tribe of levy inherit no land but inherit to serve God.
Those who missed the material land promise.
The something better written of in Hebrews 11:39-40, is that all those who are found worthy that do not inherit the material land, inherit Jesus Christ and then through him God as our inheritance.
The Saints inherit the Earth with Jesus.
And the Saints inherit the Earth along with Jesus, which means to rule and judge it.
Ultimately the inheritance is God Almighty, our Father in Heaven.
