God's Word
Chapter 2
GOD'S WORD on the Trinity
In the following Chapter and verse God is informing King David of the same person he told Moses of.
2 Kings, or in some Western Bibles 2 Samuel 7:12-16 “And it shall come to pass when thy days have been fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, even thy own issue, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build me a house to my name, and will set up his throne even for ever. I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son, and when he happens to transgress, then I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the sons of men. But my mercy I will not take from him, as I took it from those whom I removed from my presence. And his house shall be made sure, and his Kingdom for ever before me, and his throne shall be setup for ever.”
COMMENTARY:
King David is being told what is to come when he is long gone from this life, and as he recognises the fact in verses 18 and 19, and that it is to be his seed from his own issue, that will bring into life the one Moses was informed of. Simply put, and in context with the overall scriptures of God, this person will be one of King Davids relatives of the future, who is called Joseph.
“He shall build me a house to my name and will set up his throne even forever”, for a start this house God refers to is not a stone or otherwise building, it is the congregation of the Faithfull, and the throne is the Spiritual one … More to come on that.
It is not the temple which Solomon built, especially since King Solomon eventually turned his back on God and became an Idol worshipper to suit his concubines and wives of seven hundred or so. Solomons throne was not for ever, and certainly not made sure.
“I will be to him A father, and he shall be to me A son” already we can see that this person to come will be from the seed issue from King Davids loins, and long after David has died. “A father” in context fits with the meaning of the word “father”, and a look in a good dictionary will inform that “father” can mean such things as (He was the father of his own demise), and without taking this any further in context of Gods Scripture the information is that it is man who fathered this person being prophesied of, and God bought him up to be obedient to him Thus “fathered him” … For all people who are obedient to God, he is their Father, and therefore they are known as Sons and Daughters of God … All this and more are available in Gods Scripture, it is all written.
Further to this, read how God is to chasten with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the sons of men, this son of Joseph, this man to be born as Gods prophet and servant, will have a strict up bringing, to suit his ministry.
